He is finally back home!!!!

Most of you didn't know that I have spent the past 6 weeks without my husband. He had a work training and had to be away from me and Perla. Missed him? Immensely!! This was the first time, since we have been married, that we have been away from each other for so long. I am grateful for friends and family who have been close to us to help us make this time more bearable.

Sadly, this month was our third anniversary, and we weren't together to celebrate it. But here is to a lifetime and eternity together!!!! CHEERS!!!!

Well, enough said about me and him. Something else I have realized during this time I was without my husband is that I have gained a lot of sympathy for singles, single moms, and moms whose husbands are in the Army and away from home.
I feel sympathy for singles because they haven't found the person they want to share their life with. That person is a special one, he or she loves you more than any other person in this world, understands you better than anyone, cares for you and trusts you with all his or her life (Don't get me wrong, parents are very special too, but in a different way from a wife or a husband). I feel privileged to have found that person.( Keep in mind he didn't fall from the sky, God put us in each others paths, but we had to do the rest ;-))
I feel sympathy for single moms. I look at myself and I get to stay home with my baby and do the things I love the most, taking care of my family, and raising my child. A single mom has to be the man and the woman in the house, she has to be the husband and the wife, the mother and the father, and that is a lot of responsibility.
I feel sympathy for the wives of the solders. Not only are their husbands away from them, but they live with the fear that something bad may happen to their husbands.

All these thoughts made me be more grateful for my husband and the life we have. We shouldn't take our spouses for granted. God has given them to us, He has entrusted them to us, we need to show Him that we value His gift to us.

My favorite moment was to see Perla's reaction when she saw Miri after 6 weeks. She didn't show almost any emotion, she just hugged him and hugged him.

Don't mind Perla's face, she had just eaten some of the treats daddy had brought home. Don't you love her dress, it has her name engraved in front.

Thanks for stopping by!

Warmly,
Juliana

A post only about my husband!!!

Well, this is the first time I am actually writing about my husband. I want to dedicate this post to his incredible creativity in the kitchen. Not to brag but he is not just a great cook but his plates look like art work...much much better than mine. His creativity goes beyond the plate decoration...I usually need a recipe to follow when I cook, he can make a meal using anything we have in the fridge or the pantry. I am so grateful for him, for thinking so out of the box....totally the opposite of me, this way we complement each other. So, here are some of the delicious and beautiful plates he has cooked for us. Oh, and I usually take pictures of his plates. He likes when I praise him, and keep record of his talent. hihihihi

Rice, lamb, and bean sauce

Lamb, sauteed vegetables, and tzatziki

This was from the time we were single, and I honestly can't exactly remember what it was, but it looks like meatloaf with sauteed vegetables, and soup. :-)

Fried rice, pouched egg, vegetables, and chicken. His plate has hot sauce on top

Again I can't remember this one either, but I think it is bread ball filled with vegetables, lamb, and salad with homemade croutons.

Shrimp in a stick, sauteed vegetables and lamb

That is all I have in my camera. Next time you see him, please tell him how good he is, it will make him so happy!! Haha

Well, thank you for stopping by and hang in there because the weekend is here.

Warmly,
Juliana

A word to all wives...about your husbands

From the title you may have thought that I am some kind of "men expert". Well, that would be very funny if you thought so. Because I am not anything close to a "men expert". When my husband and I got married, we would fight often, as many new couples do. I had very high expectations and was very critical to most things my husband would do. For some reason, I thought I could change my husband and make him the way I wanted him to be by continually critisising him. Oh, I was so wrong!! Unfortunately, it took me a while to understand that the only person I could change was myself! A really good friend of mine recommended that I read a book (she has a book about almost anything).
The book was titled, "The proper care and feeding of husbands" by Dr. Laura Schlessinger. The book was very eyeopening to me and it changed my perspective in many things.
One of my favorite quotes from the book, which best summarizes the whole book according to me, says, "Remember, men are simple creatures and very dependent upon their wives for ACCEPTANCE, APPROVAL, AFFECTION. When those three A's are restored, all in well in their world."

Now, this quote is not to make men sound weak. I value men for being "simple" and not complicated as some women are. I value them for needing to be loved because it is amazing that inside a strong man is a tender spirit. And we women are blessed to see the soft side of our husbands, that side that no one can see. For this reason, I believe that we need to nurture our husbands with love and tender care.

I have picked a few quotes that I believe will answer some of the questions we women have or some of the frustration we as women feel in regard to our husbands. I want to use her direct quotes because they are just so great!

1. When our husbands make a mistake or when we think they are making a mistake.
"Wives need to love their husbands as though they have never been hurt before, otherwise, they destroy today"

2. We get caught up on small and unimportant things
"One small step toward a wife's taking responsibility is to keep lips buttoned over things that do not really matter"

3. We criticize our husbands by the way they do things or by how they spend their time etc.
"My advice is that if you continue to nag, control, and be an unpleasant person to be around, then your husband is not going to want to be around you or treat you how you want to be treated.

4. We hold grudges. (I believed that this was my secret arm to make my husband feel guilty. That is so mean of me, right?)
"The cruelest thing a wife can do to a husband is to never be happy and don't forget. Being happy is more and attitude than a reality."

I hope you keep these quotes in mind and try to apply them in your lives.

Do you have a favorite quote or lesson that you have learned which has helped you in your marriage? Please share it with me.

May God bless all your marriages!!!

Juliana
